Muscle tension is not a
quick fix, even if it is mild. What causes this stiffness, ache or pain
within our body is an accumulation of lactic acid within our muscle
fibres. This is caused by any over exertion we inflict upon our body,
stress, work, lifestyle, diet, medication and repetitive movements are
but a few common components in the make up of this problem.
Once this lactic acid
starts to store within our muscles, it begins to crystallise and when
you have a massage or rub the area that is hurting you can sometimes
feel what seem to be little knots that feel like they crunch and move
when touched. This is the crystallised lactic acid and the more of the
components mentioned above that we do on a regular basis, the worse
these become.
Over a period of time,
this starts to affect the performance of the muscle, blood flow, oxygen
and vital nutrients are slower in getting through the muscle fibres and
the waste remains to store in the muscle.
Massage is a fantastic way to reduce
this problem and to control the build up, BUT it is not a quick fix. A
one hour session is not enough to eliminate the tension, however think
of how long you have suffered with the problem area! An hour will not
remove this.
